SHIORI: TOWNSVILLE CULTURAL FESTIVAL

Shiori2Hello everyone! How is the semester going so far? I already have a bunch of assignments I have to do. However, I am trying to make the best out of my time in Australia.

To begin with, I would like to thank JCU for giving me the awesome opportunity to become a student blogger. I am planning to share some exciting experiences with you throughout the semester. Hope you all enjoy it J.

On Sunday, the 17th of August I participated in the Townsville Cultural Festival as a part of the Japanese community. The festival itself was very energetic with people from many different countries sharing traditional foods and putting on performances. I was one of the performers and I had a chance to dance to a Japanese pop song with 4 other Japanese friends! Despite the fact that we had to meet for early morning dance practice, it was a great experience to be able to introduce Japanese culture to the people in Townsville.

Townsville has many events going on. So those of you who are interested in events around the city, I strongly recommend you take notice of posters on campus, Facebook posts, and banners in the city.

I hope you all have a wonderful week and good luck with your studies!
