Hi guys! I would like to share with you my advice about exploring your host nation. Even if you are tight for money I encourage you to explore as much of Queensland as you can! You’re not limited to one town.
My friends and I arranged a day trip to Charters Towers last semester. Charters Towers is a small town that was famous for its gold mines. If you can find someone who has a car, it is one of the most convenient ways to explore Townsville, or go somewhere within Queensland. It is cheap (split the petrol fees) and you can stop by at any interesting spot on your way to your destination.
If you cannot find anyone who owns a car, you can always use the Greyhound coach. You can save up a lot of money by making the most of concession rates. So remember, always have your JCU student card with you! We made the most of this service to explore Cairns. It was a great fun!
I recommend you plan ahead, stay safe, and explore as much as you can while you are in Australia.
Enjoy your upcoming breaks guys! And as always, good luck with your studies.
