International student stories

James Cook University is a highly diverse community with many nationalities, cultures, religions and languages; our international students are from over 100 different countries. International students from all different areas of study have shared their JCU experience, see them below.

Interested in sharing your JCU experience?

If you are a current student or alumni member and would like to share your JCU experience complete our Share Your JCU Experience form. These testimonials are used to promote JCU to students who are interested in studying in Australia.

Every semester, three to six students are chosen to be International Student Bloggers. In this role, students share advice, stories, adventures and their JCU experience on JCU Connect under Student Posts. This opportunity allows current and prospective students to know they can expect when studying at JCU from the perspectives of fellow international students. Topics can range from, what to do in the first few weeks of arriving in Australia, how to make the most of studying abroad and learning opportunities, and what activities are available to students. If you are interested in becoming an International Student Blogger, please email iscmarketing@jcu.edu.au with:

  • your name
  • your degree/ program
  • Townsville or Cairns campus
  • 100 words on what you would blog about and why

Blogging opportunities will also be advertised on the James Cook University International Facebook page.
