As a single semester international student, I knew that I wanted to travel and explore as much as possible. One of the top places I wanted to travel to was: New Zealand. New Zealand has incredible views and is the landscape for so many incredible movies.
Four friends and I decided we wanted to see as much as possible. We had two nights in Sydney and five days in New Zealand.
Sydney: We walked through the gardens, saw the sunset over the opera house, grabbed some dinner, and saw a SYMPHONY in the OPERA HOUSE!!!
In New Zealand, we decided the best way to have a real adventure was to rent a caravan. The caravan fit five people, and had a tent on the roof. It fit us all tight and kept us warm when the temperatures dropped at night. It was nice to have cooler weather, as the heat here in Townsville is still a killer.
During our five days in NZ, we went to five different camp sites, four national parks, and did about 13 hour’s worth of driving. The trip was fantastic, I could not believe the sites we got to see. OHH and I got to drive on the left side of the road!
We went to Milford Sound, Mount Aspiring, Glenorchy, Lake Wakatipu, Te Anau, Fiordland National Park, and of course Queenstown.
I have always wanted to bungy, so I did! I jumped over the Kawarau River. The bungy was 43 metres high and I dropped to within a metre of the water. Its so cool to see the world from a different angle.
I did not want to choose the wrong place to travel, and I can say that I’m so happy I went to New Zealand. There was so much natural beauty. Nothing else mattered…. Not the lab reports or essays that I’ve been cramming to do this week. I cannot wait to see what else I can accomplish during the remaining time abroad.
