Instagram had been inspiring me to adventure around Far North Queensland lately if you don’t already, follow “Explore Tropical North Queensland” on Instagram and Facebook for some great adventure ideas!
One of the beautiful falls that popped up on my feed was Windin Falls. I was gobsmacked when I saw a picture of this infinity pool lookout.
I had to find out how to get there. Unfortunately, Google did nothing to help me, Windin Falls is a pretty elusive place. Making it extra special I think. Lucky for me, I have a friend who is a local and also a blogger! So by following her blog I was able to find out how to get there.
To start you follow the Old Cairns Track (photo above).
When you follow that until it ends you will come to a metal gate that you hop over and begin your walk.
While me and my friends were doing this ~4.5km (each way) walk we actually ran into this old German guy who was the creator of this track! How cool!
After about an hour of walking up and down hills we came to the falls. And I was completely taken aback.
These falls are not for the faint of heart, it was suchhhhh a long way down from the top of the falls. So if you have a fear of heights do not look over the edge.
The water was ice cold and refreshing, however I would not recommend going into the infinity pool if the water is flowing too much. It’d be a bit too dangerous.
I would recommend the following:
- Water- it’s about an hour each way up and down hills
- Comfy shoes
